'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Galbraith renews clash with Pep's side.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he recalls the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's epic comeback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match wrapped up with Galbraith temporarily wearing a spectator's eyewear amid the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from outside the box, and the defender quickly slammed home the loose ball before sprinting toward the East Stand to celebrate, with fans congregating around the players.

Stunning Reversal

This completed an extraordinary recovery given the Welsh side had found themselves down 2-0 during the final 45 minutes. Amid the delirium, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a joke with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

The victory booked a next round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the comparable phase of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in spectacular fashion, with a teammate's first-time shot from about long distance going in via the bar and the City goalkeeper. Many argued that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've credited him for taking the effort on from that distance," says Galbraith, who played in the middle before switching to right defensive wing after the team changed shape. That meant competing with City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the opposition who paid tribute to the way the underdogs approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are exceptional but even the basics and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," Galbraith says. "It feels like they always find their target and they understand how to control and take the sting out of a game. You can think you're doing well and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass between defenders without you even seeing. You have to be switched on at all times of the game. It demands a tough attitude and concentration just to stay in the game."

Welsh Transition

The Welsh side pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to secure him in the summer in a significant move. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across multiple campaigns at his former club and has swiftly done the same in Wales. At Orient he joined forces once more with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a loan at fourth-tier Salford City, before he departed Manchester United.

Development Path

"I was perhaps a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is completely distinct. Sometimes it feels like play is circulated without real physicality. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

International Recognition

His progress reflects that growth for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who could still reach the World Cup next summer via the playoffs and for whom he has featured in the last several matches, including both legs encounters against a football powerhouse. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's former international manager, paid him the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his eye for a decisive through ball.

Humble Beginnings

It has been an incredible journey for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his father, his father, also a central player, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

His sole appearance for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they competed on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was shut owing to conditions of bitter cold. "It was a lengthy journey and it was freezing," he says, smiling. "The days leading up, the academy prospects practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was incredible."

Leaving United

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he joined from Linfield aged 16? "The decision proved quite easy, because I got to the stage where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I felt I required a fresh start, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Life in Swansea

It is mid-afternoon at the club's training ground but Galbraith has a commitment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another step towards getting on the road. Before his recent move to the local area, the mid-twenties player was a constant rider in Swansea's so-called fun bus, a team vehicle driven by academy staff, the transport team, which transports players to and from sessions and fixtures.

"My companions include a teammate, Ronald, an Ivorian player – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to socialize with the lads but I'm hoping to be the next one to drive independently and on the road. The Portuguese player likes to pull a few pranks; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would blend in with followers on London's Central line after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
